Just checked in for my second RFA session. Hopefully as straightforward as previously. I shall, of course, update accordingly for all those in (or potentially in) the Burn Club.....

Am due my 5th next month and I have found things get more painful with each session although may be my fault as I continue to eat and drink as normal straight away, still have 75% of original Barretts so some way to go get

Good luck Graham. I had my surveillance endoscopy yesterday - another knock out job with the sedation.

Steelee - were they expecting to get it all by now? I'm surprised it has taken so many sessions. The literature refers to most people needing one or two follow up sessions. It's good to find out some personal experience.

Right then, done and dusted for the second time.

Propofol sedation so not much to say about the procedure but the results were ok.

Moderate improvement from last time, my C8M8 is now C4M7 so the RFA is having an effect. Expectation is that I will need another three or four sessions to clear the Barretts.

Recovery (so far) has been a little harder but that may be because I went back to work today rather than the day off I had after the first go. Fairly frequent discomfort, very tired and lots of wind!

Going to try and push the diet forward a bit faster this time, I was maybe too cautious last time and I need to find my limits.

Had a chat with my, excellent, consultant Dr W about the way forward post RFA (which might not be for another nine months or so!). She says we may go for 24hr PH monitoring to see what my reflux is like and then possibly go for fundo if warranted.

Next RFA will be in January (insurers willing) since we both decided that December wasn't conducive to an altered diet.

Might be a long journey but should be worth it in the end. Having seen where else it might go I can put up with Chicken Cup-a-soup for a while.
